Crazy Robots JIRA

Crazy Robots JIRA

Overview

Project for the automation team (also known as Crazy Robots) to handle asset management as well as coordinate maintenance requests.

GP lab users submit repair requests directly through JIRA. Emails to CrazyRobots@broadinstitute.org will make External Instrument Service tickets.

Issue types

 Request Instrument Service

  • Used by GP platform users to request service on an Instrument (repairs, moves, preventative maintenance etc...).

 Instrument

  • Represents hardware out in the lab. These tickets track the instrument's lifestyle (Active, Retired) as well as current machine status (Down, Warnings)
  • When a user makes a Request Instrument Service ticket, JIRA's workflow automatically links it to the selected Instrument ticket.
  • When a user (generally CR staff) makes a new Instrument ticket, the instrument is automatically added to the drop down list for requesting instrument service.

 External Instrument Service

  • Helps automation team log hours for work done for other (non GP) Broad teams.

 Engineering Request

  • Requests for work relating to software (e.g. automation script updates) or other miscellaneous work for the automation team, like 3D printed parts. Not clear on what issues require a GPLIM ticket vs an Engineering Request ticket.

 New Technology Evaluation

  • What it sounds like. General tickets with an Open-In Progress-Closed workflow to hold documents and discussions around new technologies.

Observations

  • No workflow (goes straight to Closed) - just used to log Observations
