Updating Instrument ticket summary (Crazy Robots)

Updating Instrument ticket summary (Crazy Robots)

This page is for those with JIRA admin privileges.

Sometimes, the automation team wants to change the name of an existing Instrument ticket. (Lets say ABC → ABCD.) If a user only edits the ticket, the custom field called Instrument would be out of sync and not show the edited name in the Instrument drop down when repair requests get submitted. e.g. if the machine now called ABCD is down, someone that wants to submit a request would only see ABC in the instrument list. This would prevent a link being made between the request and the instrument and would not change its status to "Down" or "Warnings".

Therefore a JIRA admin is needed to: 1) edit the custom field configuration for Instrument, 2) Update two fields in the Instrument ticket: Summary and Instrument Name.

  1. Change the Instrument Custom field configuration:
    1. Navigate to the Instrument custom field (here)
    2. Find the instrument that matches the request, and edit it. (Hint: the Instrument Class field in the ticket matches the first level drop down)
  2. Change the ticket Summary:
    1. Since there is no field level security, you have to manually add the Summary field to the CR-Edit Instrument screen. (here)
    2. In a new tab, go to the ticket and edit the summary. Make sure it matches the value added in 1b.
    3. Remove the Summary field from the CR-Edit Instrument screen.
  3. Change the ticket Instrument Name
    1. Similarly to the steps taken above in 2, you have to manually add the Instrument Name field to the CR-Edit Instrument screen (here).
    2. In a new tab, go to the ticket and edit the Instrument name. Make sure it matches the values on 1b and 2b.
    3. Remove the Instrument Name field from the CR-Edit Instrument screen.

In the end, the values from Instrument field should be the same as Instrument Name and Summary.

Illumina Instruments in Crazy Robots

There are some Illumina instruments that are kept in the Crazy Robots project for internal history tracking purposes for the production team (i.e., iScans). These Illumina instruments in the CR project are not actually serviced by the Automation team. Please refer to the Adding new Illumina Instruments to JIRA page for instructions on how to update the information for Illumina instruments that may require service.
